Poser 8

Okay, so this isn't exactly breaking news anymore but there are some exciting features to keep your eye on.

I'm particularly thrilled about the Wxpython features. This is noticeable on the UI itself as all of poser palettes can now be docked or floated. The docking is well done and you can really customize to your heart's content. You can even close windows that you don't use often. Scripts that have designed with wx in mind can be placed into the UI also. I've also seen at least one script that was able to directly manipulate the selected figure's limbs in real time. Very very nice and I think you are going to see some real power unlocked here.

I hope we will see some exciting new content come out as a result at the end of this year!

DAZ Studio 3

If you haven't looked at DAZ Studio in a while or are just getting into playing around with 3D, you might want to check out DAZ' flagship rendering and animation application, DAZ Studio 3.

Quite a few new features and tweaks are in the new version, including a touch-up to the render engine and visible cues for light sources. The advanced (pay for) version has a dazzling toolbox of new things to play with including shader "bricks", figure mixing and 64 bit support (windows).

However, every software can use some tweaks and DAZ offers an easy way for you to report bugs and request features, through it's bug tracker system (Under the Help menu).

One feature request that has been gaining some momentum is adding the ability for DAZ Studio 3 to save out version 2 files. Currently, DS 3 will read (more or less) older files but will not write them, which I think is important during this transition period. If you are a DS 3 user and agree, post your comments at the bug tracker entry here:
